Caloric is the solo queer dance-pop project of Dailen Williams, a self-taught DJ and producer from Providence, RI.

As Caloric she makes energetic, shimmery pop music for lonely nightclubs and sad birthday parties.

Employing cheap old keyboards, guitar pedals and literal toys Dailen creates work characterized by its heavy use of buzzy basslines, soft shimmery drones, melodic drums, and the worn, tired voice that holds it all together.

Caloric makes music about frustration and change; songs for all of us who are still trying to heal. Somber and pulsating are the punctuated grooves that carry the words she lacked the strength to say when she was younger.

A self-taught producer, Dailen began DJing and beatmaking in 2011, eventually going on to start various underground party-series around Providence, RI with her peers, including the recurring experimental club night "Approximate ≈" (2016), the inflatable art installation series "Ice Floe" (2016-2018), and the monthly queer dance party "Hot Club II" (2019-2020).

Currently she curates the monthly producer showcase “Focus Group” at AS220 where artists are asked to spin their works-in-progress and attendees are encouraged to embrace the rough and unfinished.

Most recently she’s been busy releasing remixes for Muggs Fogarty, Trade Secrets, and Lindy Vision, with several more expected to drop later in 2023 alongside her EP “To Glow”.
